because help is needed now. and there is much we can do.
Our country needs us, and the wonderful work we do can help save hundreds of lives. You may wonder how, since we can't do any work at all at the moment... and the money is needed now!
Even if we're all separated, as photographers we want to get together and be closer than ever with a love project. We want to contribute in a practical way through our art and our images, and support hospitals and emergency agencies that are now on the front line in the fight against Covid-19 to save lives.
Update - In Italy, almost 200 photographers signed up in less then five days and are all actively campaigning now. and They've been featured in papers and news reports, on a local and national scale. Donations are coming in. It's exciting to see it unfolding!
What can we do?
Every photographer will donate his or her professionality, time and creativity by offering portrait sessions of 30 minutes or an hour, which value will entirely and directly donated by the client to hospitals and and emergency services that are actively engaged in the fight against the virus. Every photographer will select which hospital or service they want their session fee to be donated to. No photographer will collect the donations themselves.
Clients will then be able to book their sessions as soon as normal work is resumed, and receive a high quality print of their portrait. There will be no obligation to buy additional images, but of course it will be possible if wished.
Donations towards hospitals and emergency agencies will be sent directly by clients when they agree to ONE PHOTO FOR LIFE and their sessions will be booked when the emergency is over.
how does it work?
What is being offered? Each participating photographer will offer a limited number of sessions or minisessions. It's not a sale or a promotion: we're offering our services at our ordinary prices, we donate our time in exchange for a donation towards the Covid-19 emergency. The value of each donation should reflect the normal session fee for each photographer.
What will the clients who buy this voucher receive, as included in the price? For mini sessions one digital file, for normal portrait sessions a high quality print or a credit voucher towards prints. This will be the standard offer, there will be no competition on what's included.
How will donations be managed? Photographers will not collect money, and don't even have to communicate it to the chosen charities and health organisations (right now, they don't have time to speak to anyone). They will give clients all the details to transfer their donation, and a copy of that will be enough to book the chosen session. Every photographer is free to pick any organisation they wish to support: local hospitals, NHS, Red Cross, or others.
We're all the same! This mean being identified by the same graphics, as well as following the same guidelines. All participating photographers will be able to download logos and texts for their campaigns, as well as a press release to shore with their contacts in the media. It's a common effort designed to reach many people quickly and effectively.
All of us, photographers and clients, will have much to celebrate when this nightmare is over. Families will reunite, loved ones will meet again, relationships get closer... photography is the best way to celebrate our return to life, to our loved ones, the people we were separated from during this time. Knowing that we will meet for a photo session is a wonderful thing to look forward to, and this will definitely be a memorable and very significant one. What a moment to freeze in time.
As photographers, we couldn't give a greater gift. As citizens of our country, there's no better way we can help.
